About Samba Panashe
General Summary
Samba Panashe is a community-run band that has been thriving and persevering for the last 15 years. Currently, we have around 30 members of the Bournemouth and Dorset community who make Samba Panashe what it is. Celebrating the vibrant rhythms of Brazilian music is an aspiration for all involved. Immerse yourself in the pulsating beats and colorful melodies that define our performances. We aim to transport you to the heart of Brazilian musical culture, where every note resonates with energy and passion.
We welcome anyone and everyone over 8 years old and of any ability. We don't mind if you've played before or if you're a newbie; we want you involved. To find out how to join, click the button below.
Committee Team
These are some of the faces of our lovely committee team. They work hard to ensure everything runs smoothly and maintain a friendly and safe environment for all those who are a part of Samba Panashe. Below, you can get to know them a little and briefly understand their roles within the band.
Maestro / Chairman
Chris
Chris is our Maestro for the band, he leads us through performances and practices. He works very hard to ensure everyone feels welcome and understands what to do.
He has been running the band for over 10 years and we wouldnt be here without him.
Treasury Assistant / Refreshments
Elaine
Elaine is in charge of collecting fees as well as Organisation of Admin. She supplies the band with refreshments at practices, and assists in Event Organisation and Admin where and when needed.
Treasurer / Costume Producer
Barbara
Barbara is our treasurer, she also helps Elaine and Nikki with admin and ensuring everyone has correct uniform and drum maintenance. She is well organised and keeps us together, helping to make our amazing decorations and uniforms.
Secretary / Policy & Practice
Mandy
Mandy enforces out Policies and Rules to ensure everyone is treated fairly. She also assists Admin work with Elaine and Barbara. She is a very welcoming member.
Safeguarding
Sha Sha
Sha Sha is a long standing member who ensures everyone feels welcome and feels safe. She assists in Safeguarding and with any queries people may have while being happy and bubbly.
Safeguarding / Social Media Rep
Leli
Leli is the Safeguarding Lead for the band / young person's representative, she ensures everyone feels welcome and safe. She also looks after and runs the Social Media for the band to help publicise and spread the samba fun. As well as this, she helps Chris teach the other members and keep the sections together.
Colleague (band) Liaison / Decorating Team
Charlie
Charlie is in charge of ensuring in our carnival performances we have all supplies needed to publicise and encompasses the Brazilian samba feel. He speaks with our other samba friends, creating important friendships with those who share the Samba fever.
Membership Secretary / Costume Producer / First Aider
Nikki
Nikki is a bubbly member of the committee, she ensures everyone's fees and memberships are sorted, and that they get what they need. She also helps Barbara with the uniforms and décor for our performances, making sure we stand out and shine the samba fun. If you want to join, i'm sure you'll love to talk to her as much as we love her.
